सामयिक वार्ता के संपादक एवं देश के मशहूर राजनीतिक विश्लेषक योगेन्द्र यादव लोकतंत्र के शास्त्र को नये सिरे से गढ़ने और उसे देखने का नजरिया बदलने पर जोर देते हैं. आज भारत में युवाओं का बड़ा महिमामंडन हो रहा है । ७१% नौजवानों की आबादी वाले राष्ट्र में युवाओ की राजनीतिक स्थिति पर चुनाव विश्लेषक योगेन्द्र यादव ने एक सटीक प्रश्न उठाया है कि "क्या सचमुच इस देश में ऐसा नौजवान युवा वर्ग मौजूद है जो अपने बूते राजनीति-चुनावों की दिशा तय कर सके ? जब मैं देखता हूँ कि राहुल नाम का एक लड़का जो गमले का फूल है, हजारों कांग्रेसी युवा कार्यकर्ताओं के अधिकारों को रौंदता हुआ मात्र वंशवाद के बूते प्रधानमंत्री के पद की ओर मूविंग चेयर पर बिठाकर बढाया जा रहा है । पूरी कांग्रेस में एक भी भगत सिंह नही है , जो इस वंश गुलामी का विरोध कर कार्यकर्त्ता की मर्यादा की प्रतिष्ठा करे ? Yogendra Yadav is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Delhi since 2004। He is Founder Convenor (1995- 2002) of the Lokniti network and the founder Director (1997-2003) of Lokniti, a research programme on comparative democracy of the CSDS। Educated in Sriganganar (BA, Rajasthan University), Delhi (MA, JNU) and Chandigarh (M Phil, Panjab University), he taught at Panjab University Chandigarh (1985-1993) before joining the CSDS। Currently he is a Fellow at Institute of Advanced Study (Wissenschaftskolleg) at Berlin for the year 2009-2010.Professor Yadav's areas of interests include democratic theory, election studies, survey research, political theory, modern Indian political thought and Indian socialism. He has co-authored State of Democracy in South Asia (OUP, 2008) and co-edited (with Sandeep Shastri and K C Suri) Electoral Politics in Indian States (OUP, 2009). He has also co-authored (with Alfred Stepan and Juan Linz) Democraccy in Multi-national Societies, due for publication in 2010 from John Hopkins University Press. He has been involved in designing and coordinating the National Election Studies, the most comprehensive series of academic surveys of the Indian electorate, from 1996 to 2009. He has published dozens of academic papers in various books and journals and has written over two hundred articles in newspapers and magazines. He is one of the General Editors of Lokchhintan and Lokchintak Granthamala, a series of social science anthologies in Hindi and is on the International Advisory Board of the European Journal of Political Research. He is the Editor of Samayik Varta, a monthly journal published in Hindi. Since 1996 Professor Yadav has been a psephologist and political commentator on a number of television channels in India including Doordarshan, NDTV and CNN-IBN.He is currently a member of the Governing Council of the Indian Council of Social Science Research and a member of the Governing Borad of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. He is an Honorary Fellow, Indian Institute of Political Economy, Pune (since 2004). He was one of the two Chief Advisors in Political Science for the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) who suprevised the writing of the new textbooks for Political Science for class IX, X, XI and XII. He was also a member of the Expert Group appointed by the Government of India in 2007 to examine the structure and functioning of an Equal Opportunity Commission.In 2008 Professor Yadav was awarded the Malcom Adishesiah Award for contribution to development studies. In 2009 the International Political Science Association honoured Professor Yogendra Yadav with the first Global South Solidarity Award "in recognition of outstanding work on the politics of the developing world".Research interests :Professor Yadav's areas of interests include Democracy, democratic theory, election studies, survey research, political theory, modern Indian political thought and Indian socialism.Selected Publications Articles in Professional / Refereed journals :--
